Blessings

I was driving down the road today and thought, "We have sure been blessed this year." Our family has had its fair share of trials, but we've been able to see the hand of the Lord in our lives.

Daniel was asking me why people don't know they shouldn't drink coffee. I replied because they probably aren't members of our church and don't know the Word of Wisdom. And then the missionary bug in me was screaming I should convert everyone around me. Meanwhile, Daniel is telling me coffee hurts people's teeth and stomachs and what does the word wisdom mean? I LOVE it when he asks me questions, but as he is getting older, his questions are getting harder.

I had to read him a book tonight (very simplified version) about where babies come from because he was asking me so many questions about it. Thanks to my mom for giving me the book she read to me when I was little! As I finished, I was afraid of the questions he might ask- like "What is sperm," but he just wanted to know why babies needed adults to take care of them and to tell me he didn't understand babies at all. Woo.. Thank goodness.

We had well checks for our kids today. Carlo and I are breeding giants. The doctor estimates that Daniel will be 6'4" and weigh 220 while Coral will be 5'8" and 120. They are both well over the average for height and weight. He kept commenting to me that people might get irritated with Daniel and me for how he acts thinking he is two years older than he is and I just shook my head in agreement. It has already happened so many times. Carlo and I even have to remind ourselves he is only four.

Even with all the insane moments, being a mother is the best job I could have ever picked. I'm grateful for my two babies and for such a wonderful husband. My BFF posted about dreaming she was married to someone else and then waking up and being so glad to find her husband next to her. Well, I have dreams like that and it all seems wrong. I toss and turn until finally Carlo's face will come into my dream and everything feels right and I go back to sleeping peacefully.

While I am on the grateful subject (belated Thanksgiving post), I am blessed with such great friends and family. So many times someone has called and perked up my day when I needed it. Or those moments when I may feel I am just not all that great, I'll get a some sort of compliment that helps me to realize that I really am an okay person- I am a Daughter of God. My BFF calls me all the time and she brightens my day with her funny antics. I've watched her get sealed in the temple and grow so much spiritually in the past six years. I'm proud to be her BFF. (I had to boast about you too). My friend here, Amber, always asks me to go out and do things. It's nice to know someone wants to hang out with you. She and her husband have become our good dearest friends. We all have a ton of fun together. And then there is one person that tells me how beautiful I am whenever I see her. All those things make me feel special and loved. We should all tell someone this next week how beautiful they are or let a friend know why you appreciate them. We all need to hear those things sometimes.

There have been countless people in my life that I may have only met briefly or have known for awhile, but I have learned something from each of them.

Happy Holidays!

Finally, We Know Vanessa is Alive

Yes, it has almost been three months since my last post. Unfortunately, our computer is in our bedroom and my children DESTROY my room whenever I have blogged in the past. In the evening, Carlo is usually on the computer for school. And yes, they are destroying it right now. But in support of the blogging world, I knew I must forge on and finally post.

While I would like to post and catch up on everything, I don't think my room can take the punishment by my children. So, this will be a quick post- I hope.

Daniel turned four on August 29th. This is my last year with him at home. :(

We went to California for a wedding shortly after and of course went to the beach. The kids LOVED it and I wish we could go back every month. Honestly, we just wished we lived there again. And as always, it was fun to see friends!

I turned 30 on October 30th! Yep, my golden birthday. And I had the BEST BIRTHDAY WEEK ever. On Wednesday night, I went out with my friend, Amber, and we just shopped Target without kids. And when I came home, I had a birthday cake waiting for me made by Carlo! This is the first time he has ever made a cake.

Thursday was my birthday. During the day, we went to The Mini Grand Prix and had some family fun. We had only planned on one ride, but the kids (and us too) loved it so much we went again. Coral really has no fear as she was trying to reach over and touch the moving pavement!

And that evening, I had a party and was surprised by all of my friends. I think it was possibly the best birthday I have had. We stayed up until 2:30 am just being girls. Thanks to all my friends and my sister for making my big 3-0 memorable.

Of course, Friday night was full of Halloween fun. And then we hosted a Murder Mystery Dinner on Saturday night. It was a lot of fun and I don't think I got to bed before midnight almost every night.

Most recently, Carlo's grandma saw Coral for the first time. I always love meeting up with his family whenever we get the chance. So, here is a picture with Great Grandma (Nani) with Coral and Daniel just so you can see how they've changed in three months.

Oh, and I mustn't forget- I was called to nursery for the shortest three Sundays ever and then was put in as Primary Music Leader. I know pretty much nothing about music, but I love it. It keeps me super busy!

Contradictory?

Daniel's current comments:

"Mom, I want to be a prophet when I grow up."

And then to this:

"I just need to finish sprinkling cocaine on your birthday cake and then you can eat it!"

What????!!!!

Pictures With My Camera

Our home is busy with preparations for preschool and college. I have teamed up with some wonderful moms to teach preschool at home. This has kept me busy- putting together a calendar, schedule, curriculum and getting together supplies. I only have one more year with Daniel and I want him to have a wonderful preschool experience. The other moms probably think I'm crazy with how much I am doing, but it is going to be so much fun for the kids this year!

Carlo goes back to college in a week. He is so excited to start learning again and getting back on track towards his ultimate goal- dental school. I've been helping figure out his classes and our lives with him as a full time student. Now we have an end goal in site and we're excited! We've been very blessed.

Lea, Carlo's sister was able to come and visit us last Sunday. It was so nice to see her and talk. It has been almost a year and a half since we last saw her. And this time, she brought her boyfriend. It was funny to see him squirm! And if you are reading this Lea, we liked him a lot!

My sister put Coral up by our fish the other day and she was mesmerized. It was so cute to watch her watch our fish.

Coral LOVES Daniel's play table. I decided to bring it out the other day and was pleasantly surprised to find them playing nicely together for an extended period of time! Even now they still sit down and color or read books at the table. I sure am thankful for grandma getting that for Christmas. It has come in handy.

They have been playing together so much better lately. I catch them off on their own sometimes just hanging out together. It's so cute!

And lastly, Coral has been trying to put on her shorts (or Daniel's!) for a few months now. With my camera back, I was able to catch her in the act.

Happy Anniversary

Yesterday, Carlo and I celebrated our six year anniversary. We were talking in the morning about how in our six years, we have had a lifetime of trials, yet we have made it through them all. Our marriage has grown stronger and we love each other more. Through the years I have learned many things from Carlo about life. In many ways, he is my exact opposite and balances me out so well. I love him so much. I am so grateful for my sister serving a mission and meeting him!

Right now though, I am eternally grateful to my parents and my sister, both of whom watched our children overnight. This was Coral's first night away from me and I was nervous for both her and my parents. However, she slept through the night and didn't really seem to miss me much(I even learned she wakes up in the middle of the night and hums herself back to sleep- we don't have a monitor in her room because we wake up if she cries, but can't hear quieter noises). She had too much fun with Grandma and Grandpa! When we picked them up, she ran away from me and then finally into my arms and wouldn't let go for a few minutes. I was a little heartbroken that she didn't miss me more.

Carlo and I just enjoyed the time without kids. We went to sushi (Mike and Eva, we wished you were with us to do a joint anniversary celebration) and then walked around Target looking for a small gift for one another. It was simple and relaxed. We even stayed up until 2:00 am watching movies. We were looking forward to sleep and then COULDN'T SLEEP-IN! Unfortunately, our bodies are trained to early rising.

The best part of the day was attending church without children. Carlo and I cuddled and were able to listen to everything! I was overwhelmed in sacrament by my purpose in life. I often struggle with being a mother and keeping my identity, but I knew at that moment it was my purpose to be Coral and Daniel's mother. Heavenly Father knows each of us and I know these two beautiful spirits were sent to Carlo and I. It was a joyful feeling to know that I can do this because it was meant for me to be their mother.

I was able to get in a little reading of "Breaking Dawn" before we went to pick up our kids. I've since finished it and wish there was more. I just couldn't put it down.

Thanks to my family for watching our kids and for making us a beautiful Sunday dinner. And to my wonderful sister- that was the sweetest thing having Daniel give me a gift and flowers. I am one lucky girl to have a sister like you!

Growing Up

The camera is back in action, but I have to go and buy batteries! Wouldn't it work out that way? I've been waiting for months to get my camera so I can take those picture perfect moments of my kids and then I don't have the batteries to actually use it.

Not much has happened these past few weeks with the Delorenzis' Family. Our children our growing up and it is fun (sometimes even hair pulling crazy) to watch their intelligence grow.

Daniel can grasp so many concepts. I'm really spoiled with him and love to have conversations with him throughout the day. He's such a smart kid. But, he's also all over the place like any other three year old boy. And this month he will turn four. Now, I won't get strange looks when I take him places and they don't believe he is only three. We went to the Dolphin and Lion Habitat at The Mirage and three and under are free. I was a little worried they wouldn't believe my five year old looking son was really just three!

Coral is becoming more of a spoiled princess each day. It is so hard not to just love and cuddle that little girl. She knows what she wants and amazingly is starting to speak more words. Daniel had a vocabulary of about 100 words when he was just 18 months, so it has been a different adventure with Coral. However, she can now say doggy, mama, dada, eat (while signing), bath (while signing), Daniel, and night night. The problem is getting her to use those words. She just likes to grunt and then a part of me really does believe we came from monkeys! Her favorite animal is a monkey, and she acts just like one.

Carlo is going back to school full time. We have a six year plan and then he'll be a dentist. Crazy, stressful. Yes. Especially since I'm turning 30 in a few months and thought by this age I'd have a house, be finishing up with kids and my husband would have a successful career. We all have different stages of life though and not one is right for every person. I'm excited for Carlo. He's wanted this ever since I met him and now it's going to happen.

So here's to change and moving forward!

Time to Say Good-bye

We recently had a visit from two wandering strangers from Arkansas- Carlo's mother and step-father. They are not strangers to Carlo and I, but sadly they are to our children. With a majority of the United States separating us, we are only able to see each other once a year. Their previous visit, Coral was two weeks old and Daniel was still a two year old!

Even so, we ventured off to the airport to surprise Grandma. I love seeing her face light up and tears well-up in her eyes. It's such a wonderful feeling to know my mother-in-law loves my kids as much as me. Daniel was shy, but warmed up after a few hours and Coral . . . well, she was pretty much glued to my side the whole week. At least Grandma was able to cuddle her all she wanted the last trip.

Their visits are filled with fun and adventure. My mother-in-law is classified as yellow according to the color personality test and she tends to prove the theory.

They arrived Monday evening. Tuesday morning, we met them at their hotel and went swimming. For lunch, we took Daniel for his first experience to Peter Piper's Pizza. The pizza was surprisingly yummy and Daniel loved the games. Coral loved the tickets and would grab any she could find spitting out of games- even tickets of other children! I also had some random girl running up to me and giving me her tickets. It must be my trusting face. With Grandpa's big score on the Wheel of Fortune game, we totaled 750 tickets and walked away with a bag full of delightfully cheap toys. It's the fun getting the toys that makes it all worth it!

Then it was off to score a fishing pole for Daniel. Grandpa took him to Walmart and they picked out his first pole and picked up some worms for the morning. Grandma and Grandpa live on a lake in Arkansas and go out fishing on their dock and boat all the time.

Tuesday evening, we drove across town to the Silverton. If anyone is every looking for a new buffet, theirs is pretty good. They also have an amazing aquarium. We watched all the fish for awhile and then explored Bass Pro Shop. I had never been in one and was in awe at how massive the store was along with all the things to look at including more aquariums. It was a fun, free pastime.

Wednesday morning it was time for fishing. Daniel has been talking about fishing with them for months. When they booked their trip, they also promised fishing! We lucked out and caught seven fish! They were too tiny to keep, but it was fun to watch. I caught a few myself and we plan on taking the family again when it gets cooler.

Carlo met up with us for lunch and then we all drove down to Circus Circus Adventuredome. Daniel had fun on all the rides that didn't go too fast. I forget he has yet to turn three, but he's 44" tall and can go on almost all of the rides! Unfortunately, Coral wasn't too keen on having me out of her line of vision and both kids tuckered out fast so our theme park fun ended early.

This left time for Carlo and I to go out on a date! Carlo's mom always offers to babysit when they are in town and of course we take her up on it! We went and grabbed some Coldstone and watched Hancock. It was funny. I'm not sure it is a theater movie, but definitely a rental.

Thursday was our last day with Grandma and Grandpa. Daniel kept begging them all day to stay the night at "their house." He stayed with them on Tuesday night, but they had to leave too early in the morning for the airport. He also slept in their bed and I don't think Grandma and Grandpa slept all that well. He loved spending time with them.

We went swimming again and then to McDonald's for lunch. The day ended with a pizza party with special guests from California- my mother-in-laws close friends. They haven't seen her for awhile and have never met Daniel and Coral. Carlo and I kept the party going with some bowling on the Wii for the old timers. It was fun to watch them.

And at last it was time to say good-bye with plans for the next time to fly there. It is so much fun to see them and I wish we lived closer so my kids could know their grandparents better.

Now life is back to normal with summer boredom creeping up. And the cool mom that I am, we put up our tent in the living room to have a camp-out last night complete with s'mores (a big thanks to my sis for stopping at the store on the way over). Alas, my living room is now 100% full of a tent, but the kids love it.

Daniel was sitting on my bathroom floor and Coral decided to comb his hair!

This video is from a few weeks ago. It is killing me not having a camera. There are so many moments during the day when I think, "I've got to take a picture of this." Then sadness washes over me as I realize my camera has been shipped to Canon for repair. My thoughts conclude with the fervent wish that it won't take forever. My in-laws will be here in a week and I won't know what to do without a camera. We haven't seen them since Coral was a week old!

Every once in awhile, to change things up a bit and make life exciting, we'll get some McDonald's for dinner and a Redbox. Maybe this is more for my sanity, as Carlo is often not home until the kids are in bed- I don't have to cook dinner and the kids and I can be entertained by a new movie.

Well, earlier this week, we did just that. McDonald's and Spiderwick. The movie was good, but this paragraph all leads up to one comment by Daniel. As I was putting our chicken nuggets on plates, he said, "Taste my nuts Mom." As a mother, you have to be quick on your toes because his comment caught me quite off guard. I had to ask him what he said and he replied, "Taste my chicken nuts." Then I breathed a sigh of relief and chuckled. Good thing they are so innocent still. And then I reminded him that they are "chicken nuggets." For some reason, all the sudden he thought they were called nuts.

And finally, last night we watched Akeelah and the Bee. Right at the end, the children are holding up the Scripps Spelling Bee trophy and Daniel says, "Why are they holding the Piston Cup?" For those of you who may not know, this is the trophy in the Disney/Pixar movie "Cars." The minds of children.

I love being a Mom. Every day discovering something new as my children learn. This morning I sat on the floor and Coral walked over, stepped in between my folded legs and put her arms around my neck. She pretty much does this every time I sit on the floor, but today I was appreciative of the cuddles and love. I am her most favorite person in this world and she finds no fault in me. Makes me want to have babies forever!

Our Past Week and Baby Measles?

Coral has truly proven herself to be a climber. Carlo had the ladder out to change air filters and she just climbed right on up behind him- no help from anyone. I have to keep my eye on her. I also found her playing in the toilet the other day- one that Daniel hadn't flushed after going pee. Yea, I was so grossed out. Daniel was so easy going as a new walker and she's in to everything!

Our family had a very low key father's day filled with Guitar Hero. Carlo's dream was finally fulfilled as I brought home the game for our Wii on Saturday afternoon. He has spent every day rocking out since. Our children are also glued to the entertainment- whether it be the guitar, music or watching their parents bring out their inner hero.

I have spent almost every minute in my house since Sunday morning. Coral started running a temperature Saturday morning and that evening it was up to 103. The temperature never really disappeared, but she started cooling off when yesterday morning I found her like this in her crib.

So off to the doctor we went to find out she has a virus mimicking roseola. Mimicking? Well, that's because she still had a fever with her rash. Roseola is a viral infection with a long lasting fever, followed by a rash with no fever. Sometimes it is referred to as baby measles. As it is viral, the only thing I can do is make sure she drinks a lot of liquids, keep her indoors and gets rest. I also have to give her Motrin every six hours because she is achy from the infection.

So, when Coral is not sleeping, I'm either holding her or she's following me around crying for me to hold her. She even wakes up screaming at night. See Cory, I did curse myself! Hopefully when she feels better she'll go back to a full nights sleep. Until then, my mom took Daniel today so he could get out of the house and I am getting some recoup time. Thank goodness for moms! And I certainly don't plan on going anywhere til she looks better. I think people would give us some disapproving looks. Poor girl.

And thanks to my neighbor Amber for letting us use her camera for pictures. Mine just happened to die when I needed it! The good news, it was a recall and will be fixed for free!

The Haircut

Well, I didn't wait until the poll closed to make my decision about cutting my hair, but then again, (not that I don't appreciate those that read my blog) I would have chopped it anyway. It's nothing new to me since I've had short hair on and off since high school. The poll vote was 8 for cutting it short and 4 for not. So, in the end, the short hair won either way.

Here are the anticipated pics. I think perhaps the picture of the overall haircut would look better if I wasn't holding the camera a foot from my face! At least you can see how short it is. And there are some pictures from the water park the other day. Coral is wearing an outfit my mom made using a pattern and material from when I was a little girl! And then of course, there is a picture of Coral doing her favorite thing if i leave the light on in the bathroom- climbing the step stool! And last night I took the kids to the temple. Daniel had a talk on "My Tithing Pays for Temples," so I took him to experience the quiet and peace for the temple himself. He really liked Angel Moroni blowing his trumpet and said the American flag was waving to Jesus. There is also one spot on temple grounds, if you stand perfectly in the center, your voice will echo. So, every circle we came to, Daniel ran to the center and yelled "HELLO!" It was pretty funny.

A Night Out

Carlo and I had a date last night for the first time in six months. We went to Red Lobster, gift card courtesy of Carlo's Mom. She always sends us surprises in the mail and I LOVE IT! She's the best. Then we walked around the mall. I recently found out this is one of Carlo's favorite past times. Who knew? And it's free- if you can resist buying anything.

When we picked up the kids, my mom informed me of two things:

1. Coral has a temper and wants her way no matter what. This I already knew. At least there is no guessing with this girl- I'm trying to be optimistic!

2. They ate corn for dinner, and Daniel with his new rhyming phase said, "Let's not call it corn, let's call it PORN!" Well, I think I'm speechless on this one.

We had a fun day at the park yesterday. It was a water park and I think we will be visiting again this summer. Both Coral and Daniel had a blast. Coral wasn't a fan of the water, but her new discovery- steps. I'll post pictures later.

And today we are off to the park again. It has been such nice weather here! Can you believe it? But first, to Payless for jelly shoes. I found some in Coral's size and they are so cute! But we'll be doing all this with Coral's friend on her head. She tripped and hit Daniel's table full force. Now she is sporting a bruised lump. Poor Girl.

Never Enough Time

I would like to know what my friends think- I really want to chop my hair off. I think I am done with it being so hot outside. And it won't be anything new for me- I like short hair. Vote on my poll to let me know what you think. Short hair or not?

Do you ever feel like you spend all your time reading other blogs and then never have time to do your own post? I know I do. Wow. That sure sounds like the beginning of an infomercial. But seriously, I subscribe to over 50 blog feeds and if I miss more than two days, watch out! On the other hand, if it weren't for blogs, I wouldn't know what was happening in over half of those people's lives.

Coral can hum a tune! Yea, she's musically talented already. And if I ask her to blow her nose, she can. Isn't it great that all kids are exceptional in something? She and Daniel have been so different in their growing stages.

So, today my neighbor came over and we had an impromptu photo shoot. I decided it was needed and just in time for Father's Day. Here are the results, which were very hard to get with a resistant three year old and a new walker:

Reading and Working

My life has been full of reading lately. Once I get a good book in my hand, it consumes me until I read the last word of the last page. Nothing gets done around the house, my children eat crackers and fruit snacks for lunch and I take the minimal time possible to shower (actually I bath and read while in the tub!). What, may you ask, has hindered my life?

The first book was the next one in the series of Fablehaven. If you have not read any of these, now is the time. I do believe the latest in the series by Branden Mull was my favorite. And the book I finished at 12:00 this morning, was "The Host" by Stephanie Meyer. I really LOVED reading her "Twilight" series, but I'm a little torn- I think I like this book better. It had a whole new twist! Thankfully, I am a quick reader, so it only took me about five days to read both of them. I'm sure my children are ready to have their mother back!

Speaking of children, here are a few pictures of my little ones.

We went swimming for the first time this summer. Coral is not a big fan, but we'll keep trying!

Daniel let Coral come into his room the other day to play with him. I could not get her out of that chair. She loved being a big girl with her big brother!

And here is my one year old. Can you believe it?

Camera's In Sacrament Meeting

It has been almost four years now since I became a Mother and each year Mother's Day gets better and better.

It began with the traditional breakfast in bed and Carlo, being the thoughtful husband he is, made me eggs and toast as my stomach was still churning from the flu a few days earlier. I think the best part of breakfast in bed, was having my whole family right there with me before they went and ate. Daniel has a smile that lights up the room and Coral's laugh is straight from her toes. I have great kids.

However, I must say, the best part of the whole day was sacrament meeting. Daniel is a Sunbeam now and the Primary sang in sacrament. How I wish I could have had a camera at that moment. This was a first for our family and he was a little shy getting up there, but turned on that smile once he looked out at the ward. He even waved to me at one point and I teared up a little. The best part was- he didn't know any words (a few maybe), but that didn't stop his mouth from moving! What a showman.

"Coral's Work of Poop"

The following may be a little gut wrenching to some, so if you are easily provoked into vomiting do not read any further.

After lounging around for a few hours this morning, I finally decided it was time for Saturday cleaning. But before I began, I went to get Coral out of her crib. She had been happily playing in there for the past half hour (how I love those moments) and I knew the happy cooing would soon turn into complaining.

As soon as I opened the door, I knew the little culprit had pooped. She often does this during her morning nap, but today was a little different. I looked at my cute girl and found she had no diaper on her little behind. The poop smell in that room plus a missing diaper could only mean a big mess. I underestimated the extent of the mess. House cleaning would have to wait.

Upon closer inspection, this is what I found:

Coral had one foot standing in her poopy diaper, poop smeared all over her crib sheet, comforter, Mr. Dangles (her stuffed animal) and a few other stuffed animals she had pulled out of her toy bag. Poop was also on her crib rails and worst of all on her face and on her pacifier which she was so happily sucking on while smiling at me. Now, is it possible to be cute with poop smeared on your face?

I had no idea where to begin, and at the moment I was not finding the situation hilarious. I had just spent Thursday morning with the flu and cleaning up poop was not my stomach's idea of fun.

I carried Coral to the bath tub and ran water to clean her off and then filled the tub up to bath her. The whole time she was happy as can be and I was crying trying to find some sense of humor in the situation. It took me awhile, but the day has passed and yes, I have chuckled a few times.

Unfortunately for you fellow bloggers, I have no batteries in my camera at the moment or the glorious scene would be posted below. It would be entitled "Coral's Work of Poop." I bet right now, some of you are grateful for the minimal life span of batteries.

Post Partum Depression and Panic Attacks

The following post is for informational purpose only- not to get any form of sympathy or apologies. I have been debating for awhile about posting my experience, and as it is such a real condition, I felt it could help others. I would never wish anyone, even my worst enemy (if I had one), to go through the ordeal I did. I warn you though, the following is pretty depressing:

Before Daniel came into this world, all I wanted to do was disappear. I thought it would be nice to take a bath, sink under the water and never come up. I just assumed I was overly tired. I was working full time plus some extra hours and as happens with most women, my feet and ankles were beyond swelling capacity.

Daniel was born and I had quite a few emotional break downs in the hospital. I didn't really care to hold him, but knew this was something most mothers did. As a matter of fact, most of the things I did with Daniel those first few months were purely out of knowing it was what was expected of a new mother.

About three weeks went by and I think I probably called my mother crying each of those days. Finally, one night, I went into my bedroom, curled up in the fetal position and went to the darkest place I have ever gone. I wanted to commit suicide. I didn't care how, I just wanted to end it all. I lay on the floor trying to think of a way I could end my life with something in my bedroom. Nothing came to mind. I know Heavenly Father was keeping my mind suppressed because just a few feet away was my razor. If I would have realized it was there, I wouldn't be here today.

I finally gained some realization of what was going on and went out to speak with Carlo. He listened, but was unsure of what to do. He had been taking care of Daniel for three weeks during the night, working, going to school and dealing with a wife who was not handling things. So, I went and called my parents and told them what had happened. They were very calm about the whole thing, came and picked up Daniel for the night and told me to come over in the morning.

It was the worst feeling in the world watching them drive away, knowing I wasn't mentally able to care for my new baby. At the same time, I was more relieved than I had been in a long time.

I went to the doctors within the next few days and sat in his office while telling him what I had been going through. He hugged me and told me it would be okay. Then he prescribed anti-depressants for me. This is why I do not ever want to go to another OBGYN. He was there for me, he was understanding and he let me know I wasn't a bad mother and it would be okay. He put me on suicide watch and told my mother I needed to be watched 24-7 until the medication kicked in within the next few weeks.

Our little family moved into my parent's home for the next month and a half. My mother took care of Daniel exclusively for two weeks and only brought him to me to be nursed. After six weeks, I quit nursing. I couldn't handle the time commitment, the stress and frankly didn't have enough milk. It too was a bitter sweet relief the day I quit nursing.

I also had other family members take shifts to give my mom a break while she took care of some things of work. I am so grateful to all that helped and also to my mother's work for letting her take so much time off of work to take care of me and my baby. We were blessed.

I was on medication and was sure the road was going to get easier, but then I woke up one night with my chest caving in. I ran to the bathroom, put my head on the floor and began vomiting. I couldn't even lift my head to the toilet. I was sure I was having a heart attack and plead with my parents to call an ambulance. A few moments later I was feeling a little better and they explained to me that I had had a panic attack. This was the first of many.

I began going to counseling for my panic attacks and was blessed to learn how to deal with them in just a few sessions. It was either that or take Valium when I felt one coming on. I didn't want to function that way. I had panic attacks for over a year from that point on, but was able to feel when one was coming and keep it under control.

It was over a year before I went off of my medication and by that time my body was dependant. I went through withdrawals for two weeks. I never wanted to deal with that again. So, when I found out I was pregnant with Coral, I vowed I wouldn't take anti depressants again, even though the doctor advised me to do so with each pregnancy. After alot of prayers, blessings and pondering, I decided to go on the meds before I went into labor. This was a very hard decision for me, but I didn't want to go through post partum depression again, let alone put my family through that one more time. I think they all breathed a sigh of relief when I popped that first pill in my mouth.

So, after Coral was born, we were all anxious to see if it would be a repeat even with the medication. I asked my mom to hold Coral when I first saw her and my mom began to panic thinking it was starting all over again. I had done the same thing with Daniel. This time, I was just shaking so bad that I didn't want to give her baby shaking syndrome! I probably wouldn't have, but it was hard to hold still after the surgery (c-section).

It's a year later, I went off medication when Coral was five months and life is well. I already want another baby and look forward to the next experience- even with having to go on anti-depressants again. Babies really are a blessing and I know that now! I have had the worst and best experience and I pray no one else ever has to suffer what I did. Thankfully I am not one of those mommies who hurt her baby or even was able to go through with suicide- as I know of someone who did commit suicide due to post partum depression. It is very real and very scary.

I share this to let others know that I have struggled in my life and it is okay. I have made it through this trial. I can talk about it. I want people to know about it. I want to help others. Don't be afraid to ask me any questions- I'm very open about my experience. I only hope Daniel will understand when he is older and does not blame himself. I love him no less.

I'll never forget the day my dad softly commented, "You are laughing again. I know it's going to be okay now." Since then, I try to make laughter a part of my every day.

Coral's Birthday & Other Stuff

Daniel started crying the other day and asked me how much longer it would take before he could grow up and be a fireman. He was pretty distraught. Isn't it funny how all we want to do is grow up and then when we do we just want to be young and carefree again?

I now have a one year old little girl. I can still remember the day (the day before Daniel's second birthday to be exact) when a friend asked me if I was pregnant because I had that "glow." I told her she was crazy. The next day I took a test out of curiosity and then began crying. I was pregnant and it was a complete surprise.

Even with the surprise, Coral is one of the best things that has happened to me. I knew there was another little spirit waiting for us. It may have been never, if she hadn't surprised us. After post partum depression and almost committing suicide with Daniel, I really had no desire to have another baby.

This is why I have felt so blessed for the past year. I never understood why mothers loved their newborn babies so much and could hold them for hours, until I had Coral. She is the reason I understand this pure love from the beginning. Poor Daniel. I often feel bad for him that we never had that immediate connection.

Well, that is all a little too depressing . . . Coral is one! Here are some pictures of her cake and her at the party. She was very entertaining. She would walk around the room and just smile at everyone. She knew she was the reason for the celebration. Oh girls . . . They sure know how to put on a show.

Oh, and I had her wear palm trees on her head because I made her a monkey cake. She was a monkey in a tree! Oh, I think I am so clever. She sleeps with a monkey, so hence the theme.

Thanks to all who came. Coral loves her presents! And only one of you out of seventeen voted to open presents in private. We opted to open them at the party.

Just a Picture

I forgot to post this picture of Coral and me at my sister/Coral's family birthday party. Mom's are never in pictures, so thank you to my sister-in-law, Denise, for taking one with me in it and emailing it to me!

Birthdays, Outings and More

For my sister's birthday, we gave Coral a piece of cake just to break her in for her actual birthday.

The other day I was trying to fix the clasp on a broken necklace when the clasp went down the drain. Daniel went and got his tools and proceeded to get it out. It's nice to know my "Little Man" at home is watching out for me. And no, he didn't get the clasp out, but he sure tried hard.

Coral is walking all over our house now. She is even started to speed walk- she never does anything slow. Now Daniel and Coral can play more and even dance!

Two Saturdays ago, our family went to Springs Preserve in an effort to do something and not spend money. It was fun to get out, but it is definitely not a place I'd go in the summer. The flower gardens were beautiful and only make me wish I had a green thumb to grow such beautiful things in the desert.

Now for those of you reading the bottom of my post, I ask you a question. I've noticed a new trend in birthday parties- the opening of gifts at home without the party guests. I can see the positive and negative in this, but I'd like to know what you think. Check out the poll in my sidebar.

Breastfeeding

I created this little ticker as a pat-on-the-back to myself. I lasted a whole six weeks breastfeeding Daniel as it was extremely nerve wracking to me to nurse in public. I wasn't sure how it was going to work out with the second one, but it has been a success. I didn't even blink an eye if I had to nurse outside the comforts of my own home. I even did it a few times in Relief Society- some of you never even knew. Yes, I have gained skills! And it is almost at an end. A year was my goal, and Coral will be one in two weeks exactly. For now, I enjoy my last feeding each day with her, while at the same time, I breath a sigh of relief that soon, very soon, I will have my body completely to myself.

One Whole Month

I have received a few comments from fellows bloggers inquiring about my lack of posts. I hadn't realized that it has almost been a MONTH since my last post. I apologize for any of you who may feel their life has been lessened because of my blogging laziness. If only this were true . . .

There are currently no pictures to post. I went to get my camera today and it was MIA. After panicking over the loss of our nice digital camera (in my ignorant eyes at least), I paused to consider the possibilities. I came up with one conclusion- Carlo. It's always the husband. In this case, it really was him. He was in a small car accident last week and was going to turn his truck in today to get fixed. Naturally, he took the camera to take pictures.

In other updates. I have been busy with volleyball, volleyball and volleyball. No joking aside- two weeks ago, my schedule was something like this:

Monday:
5:00 PM - watch cousin coach high school team
Tuesday:
3:45 PM - ref stake young women's game
4:15 PM - coach our YW team
5:30 PM - coach our other YW team
8:00 PM - play for ward team
8:45 PM - second game for ward team
Wednesday:
9:30 PM - play volleyball for fun
Thursday:
5:30 PM - practice for YW volleyball team

Last week was much less and this week is an off week. But I do love volleyball. I have really enjoyed working with the young women. They have such a refreshing, young vitality that I had forgotten I once had. They are a lot of fun and I'm so glad I get to coach them.

Coral is now teetering around the house. Carlo and I love watching the endless cycle of crawl a few feet, stand up, teeter a few steps, fall, stand up and then walk a few more steps. She is getting quite good at it. She took her first steps a few weeks ago, but her balance has taken awhile to catch up with how fast she wants to walk. She is on the go!

Daniel continues to humor and astound us each day with his intelligence. He often asks questions that take a minute for me to come up with an answer; and I believe in giving the full truth. If he asks why the sun rises and sets, I explain about the rotation of the earth. He sits and listens and then asks more questions. It is a lot of fun to have a child so interested in knowledge.

It has also been fun to see him grow in gospel knowledge. I try to teach him what I can and hope he will gain his own testimony some day. I believe he has a little of his own right now, but really can't grasp the concept of a testimony. Carlo gave our FHE lesson on President Monson tonight and then helped Daniel give the closing prayer. He told Daniel to say "Bless President Monson" and Daniel turned to him and said proudly "President Monson loves us, huh Dad!" Those are the moments that make it all worth while.

A Day In The Life . . .

My wonder and revelry in watching my children play so lovingly together has screeched to a halt. Now, I feel I spend my day reprimanding Daniel (rather loudly at times) as he repeatedly pushes, jabs, knocks over and yells at Coral to get away from him. On the other hand, I can understand his frustration as Coral's new found freedom in movement has resulted in her playing the "tag-a-long" game. This can be fun at times, but Daniel grows weary of his sister's infatuation. I've attempted numerous tactics to dissolve the problem, but none seem to be working. And through it all, I keep thinking about my younger years- my older sister fed up with me tagging her around every where while I just wanted to be a part of her life for one minute. It's amazing how one's life and perspective can be so different from another all due to birth order.

Passing on the Illness

Yes, we are alive. Daniel is doing much better. Thanks for all your worries and prayers everyone. Unfortunately, he did get Coral sick and myself as well. Someone had a fever all last week, whether it was Coral or Daniel.

I was among the walking dead Friday thru Sunday. I am not a good sick person. The world is over. And the whole time I kept thinking, "WHY DON'T MOMS GET SICK DAYS." Did I get my point across? How are you suppose to take care of your kids when you can't take care of yourself? So, I threw cheerios on the floor for Coral to eat and Daniel ate the food he could get himself- yogurt, crackers, Coral's floor Cheerios. I wasn't feeling so much like a good mom, but frankly, I didn't care at the time. Poor babies.

On to other things . . .I had a Wildtree presentation to give last night. I always hate it when you have to speak for an extended amount of time and you sound like a frog and can't even hear yourself speak. It turned out well though, and if anyone wants to place an order, I am putting it in on Saturday.

That's about it. Now to getting back to putting my house back together! The whole world (at least the house) falls apart when mom is sick.

And thanks for all those who blog- a peek into your world kept me sane while dealing with sick children and myself. You really start to understand that everyone else goes through the same things and you might never had known through verbal conversation, but through blogging . . . it's a whole different person.

The Five Minute Shower

Now, I've been thinking about this for awhile and wanted to share- maybe you can take an inventory. Before I had children (and became poor), I had quite a lot of products in my shower. Let me list them for you.

1. Clarifier
2. Shampoo
3. Conditioner
4. Face Wash
5. Loofah
6. Regular Body Wash
7. Fancy (date night) Body Wash
8. Bar of soap
9. Razor
10.Shaving Cream

That's at least ten things I could think of that I had in my shower. Now, let me list what is in there.

1. Shampoo
2. Conditioner
3. Razor
4. Bar of soap

Well, that about sums it up! Pretty sad, huh? My showers also take five minutes instead of twenty. Hmm. . . good thing or bad? Perhaps someday I will be able to get all the perks back.

In the meantime, Daniel has been really sick. He has had coughing fits with a 103 degree temperature. Yikes! And, as it always is when your kids are sick, he has the hardest time at nights. I think the night before last, I had three hours of sleep. And in the midst of that night, Daniel weakly asked, "Can I give Coral a hug?" It was a tear jerker question. He just wanted his baby sister.

Unfortunately for him, I have quarantined him. We have no health insurance at the moment and I don't need Coral hospitalized with RSV. Daniel has been good about it and has hung out in his bed watching the TV I brought in there from our room. I seem to be getting more done than usual too! I think I really like these sick days- now that he can comprehend "bed rest." For now, breathing treatments, liquid and rest. He hasn't had a fever today, so I'd say he's on the mend!

What Shows do You Watch?

I was finishing up dishes this evening when I heard Daniel in the background saying, "Two votes Chet. Two votes Daniel." Earlier today, I was making his bed and he had made a swimming obstacle course with his sunglasses at the end as his item to retrieve. Here's another phrase you often hear Daniel running around the house yelling, "Are the contenders ready? Yes!"

Now can you guess which two TV series I view with Daniel?

Daniel was suppose to go and play with his buddy, Ryan, this morning while I went visiting teaching (I know I'm not the only one who saves it for the last day). Unfortunately, his friend has been throwing up the night before. After I relayed the bad news to Daniel, he sulked into his room and loudly shut his door. I knew this was an issue that needed immediate resolution.

He was sitting in a chair facing the wall when I walked in and would not acknowlege my mere existence. I went over how his friend was too ill to play and that he would probably get sick as well. Then he turned around, looked me right in the eyes and yelled "YOU MADE RYAN SICK." Do I laugh? I kept my cool and thought about how to best resolve the situation. I could only think of one sure thing- bribery. I asked him if he wanted to go to the park; his eyes lit right up and he exclaimed, "Yes!" Bribery is wonderful. And I also think they made desserts to bribe children to eat their food!

Daniel's hair had gotten really long and Carlo was constantly asking me to cut it. It's actually a family ritual- I let it grow and Carlo asks me every day when I'm going to cut it. I thought I'd have a little fun styling it before I buzzed it.

I just can't get over how my children sleep. I check on them every night and then have to get Carlo.

Coral is crawling all over now. I think after my last post about her not really crawling, she proved me wrong later that day. She just loves getting Daniel's toys and he screams "That's mine!" I'm sure it is a moment all moms of two (or more) have dealt with. But Coral sure loves teasing him. Tonight I flicked her hand when she was trying to get into the dishwasher and the next time I told her no, she rubbed her hand where I had flicked her! Too cute.

I know this is a long time coming, but my cousins and I went out on the town a few months ago. We went to the Cheesecake Factory (yummy) and happened to sit oldest to youngest (on the side we were sitting), sisters opposite one another and oldest sisters on one side and youngest sisters on the other. Crazy, if you can understand all that. It was alot of fun and I sure do miss getting together! I have one hilarious family.

Eight Things About Me - Tagged

I have been putting some thought into this, but I'm not too sure this is going to be that exciting. So here it goes . . .

1. I think I am OCD. I have calmed down A LOT since having kids, but at times I can literally go crazy just thinking about all the things that can be cleaned and organized in my house. When I was in high school and we went on sports trips, all my belongings had to be in one place and each thing in its place- no scattering items about for me. In college, I had to clean my room before I could study in it. And when I was first married and up until we had kids, I went through each room and straightened and organized everything at least once a month- I'm talking cupboards, drawers, every inch of the house. Carlo still comes home and finds things moved around!

2. I've been skinny dipping.

3. I LOVE volleyball. I swear it is in my blood and I'd live and breath it constantly if I could or had the energy. I had the option of taking a scholarship to a junior college in California to play, but I chose to go to SUU. Go T-birds! They did not have a team, but I played on Women's Club and helped out with Men's Club. I also received All State setter for 2A my senior year at State. Too bad I'm not in the same shape I was back then . . .

4. I was Valedictorian in my high school. Pretty impressive, huh? Yea, we only had 55 kids in my graduating class. Yes, you read right- fifty-five. I love to read and study. In fact, I'd be a professional student if I could. But I'm only smart if I study. Ask me to remember something from awhile ago and it's not there. Never have me as a partner in a trivia game. I think I may have gotten one question right once. . .

5. I had the tip of my finger cut off when I was a baby. They had to sew it back on and you can still tell if I point it out to you.

6. I was on my way to law school when I met Carlo. I had taken the LSAT and was looking at colleges when love slipped in and took the place of law. I wouldn't change it.

7. I really want to live in California again. I think this is no secret, but Carlo and I wish we could afford to put down roots in Cali so our children can surf with Daddy. Hang Ten!

8. I love my husband and children so much. At times it can be overwhelming, but it has all been worth it. (Ask me tomorrow and I might answer differently. j/k) I also have a great extended family. Love 'em all.

The Stages . . .

Daniel is really becoming his own person. It has been fun talking with him and seeing how his minds works . . . and then the next second he is back to being a three year old again. Also, his memory is amazing.

The other night, when I was tucking him in for bed, he asked to see my cut. After Coral was born, I let him see my incision from the c-section so he would know that Mommy had a sore and he had to be careful. For some reason, he remembered this and we proceeded to have a conversation about babies, my cut, etc. Then today at preschool, he announced very loudly to the teacher "YOU'RE PREGNANT!" It was quite comical.

He is also very into yelling at me to come and see how big his poop is after he has gone to the bathroom. Yesterday, he made me look and then said, "See, it's a crocodile." Okay. . . not sure where that came from, but he was pretty excited to show me.

Lately, Daniel has also been telling me "I'm going to sell you to the Zoo!" I guess he must not be too happy about my parenting skills at times as he also tells me that "It's not fair." And on Saturday when I told him I didn't want to argue he replied "But I do." Carlo happened to be there for that one and I could hear him burst into laughter. Yes, Daniel is a word wiz and knows how to work his way through a conversation.

Now for Coral- she is our little inchworm. I'm not sure if she'll ever master crawling (though I have seen her crawl forward a few paces), but she sure knows how to inch herself forward like a worm. It's pretty awkward looking, but sure cute. She can also get into sitting and standing positions now. And if you tell her no, she puckers that face up and bawls. She already knows how to work it.

Daniel and Coral love to yell at each other. It's their own little game, but extremely noisy and annoying. I have to yell at both of them and tell them they had better stop or else. . . So far it has worked.

I LOVE being a mother to two children. It is a lot of fun and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Life In General

Carlo: "You need to go to the bathroom before you go to bed."

Daniel: "No."

Carlo: "I don't want you getting up in the middle of the night like you have been."

Daniel: "No! I don't have to pee!"

Meanwhile I am sitting on Daniel's bed waiting to read him a story when I hear:

Daniel: "I don't need a dad anymore."

It was a heart wrenching moment, but even so I could not resist the smile that came to my lips. Daniel sure thought he had figured out a way of not going to the bathroom. And yes, he did have to go pee.

I had a job interview for an optometrist office. I think it went pretty well and the doctor said he would get back to me by Tuesday evening. I really liked the office, the office staff and the doctor. He is LDS, so it is a good working environment. I just don't want to leave the atmosphere I have at home with my kids and go to one that will really make me wish I was at home with my kids still.

Meanwhile, if anyone would be willing to host a Discovery Toys Party or Wildtree Tasting, let me know. If you would like to purchase anything, the web addresses are as follows (just email me with your order):

www.wildtree.com

www.discoverytoysinc.com

Also, Carlo will still be able to do side jobs and paint if anyone would like anything done in the future. His new position is as a salesman for a granite company. If anyone is looking for tile, granite, marble, etc. for their counters, flooring, etc- then give us a call!

Well, I suppose the Delorenzis' have a lot of services to offer. When you need to make some money, you do what you need to.

We have a busy Saturday and Carlo is actually home! It is going to be a good day.

Job Anyone?

We all have hard times.

Carlo lost his job, but thankfully found another one. He started work today, so he was only out of work for about a week. Although, his previous job was commission based and he really didn't make anything over the past few months. He made lots of sales, but most people didn't have the credit to get financed.

Needless to say, I have to get a job. My mother, thankfully, can watch my kids after she gets home from work around 1:30 pm. So, if anyone has any ideas . . .

Back to work after four years at home with kids- I'm a little nervous. I did work from home up until I had Coral and then my company declared bankruptcy. It's a little different to sit in your pajamas and work from home then to go to where you work.

Yikes!!!

Painting Anyone?

Carlo is having a bit of a rough patch with work, so if you (or anyone you know) needs any painting, texturing or dry wall done, then give us a buzz.

Thanks! :)

Uppercase Drink

It's official- a "Carlo Spice" drink has been concocted. It contains half water and half juice. This is already a family favorite (not too much juice for the kids and not too sweet for the adults) and now it has a name. I'm not sure if our kids will want to know why it is named that when they get older, but it'll sure be funny to see their faces when they figure it out!

Now I know why I was having such an awful time earlier this week. Yep, (caution to all male readers) I finally had my first menstrual cycle since getting prego with Coral. Now I have had friends and family who had "Aunt Flo" visit within the first three to five months, but I made it to nine months before the dreaded curse returned. I have to tell ya, that has to be one of my favorite things about being pregnant and nursing- no period. On a positive note- I'll know for sure I'm not pregnant again!

My friend, Eva, gave me an awesome (a few actually) gift for my home. She sells Uppercase Living and I just love the product. Here are a few pictures of the decor in my home and if you are interested in buying anything, her blog is on the side under Mike and Eva- it should have the info for Uppercase Living on it.

Down and Out

Do you ever have those days where you just don't want to do anything or talk to anyone? I had a day like that today and could hardly wait for Carlo to get home. Even so, throughout the "crash and burn" day, Daniel managed to make me laugh more than once and Coral's love for her mommy melted my heart. I realized why it is so important for me to have children. They are the light and joy in my life. And they do it in complete innocence.

This next portion is with Carlo's permission.

Daniel is quite the ham without even knowing it. Last night, Carlo was lovingly teasing me and said he was going to give me some "Carlo Spice" later on. A few moments later, out of nowhere, Daniel asks "Is Carlo Spice a drink?" I immediately answered yes and began concocting a "Carlo Spice" drink mix in my head- just in case that was the next question out of Daniel's mouth.

Daniel asks me all day long what is in an apple, a cookie, someone's head, etc. Thankfully, his inquisitive mind didn't ask about "Carlo Spice." I hope I won't be needing to make Daniel a "Carlo Spice" drink anytime soon for Daniel! For now, I tease Carlo about his "Carlo Spice" comment endlessly.

This evening while I was putting Daniel to bed, he asked if he could have a snack. After I told him no, he said to me "But I want to get fat like you Mommy." Out of the mouth of babes . . . I think I may not be snacking anymore!

This Year so Far and Some of Last Year

Only a few weeks have gone by, but many events have happened. With Christmas, New Year's Eve, Mike and Eva visiting, the passing of my cousin, Carlo's birthday and our trip to California, I haven't been able to properly blog. So it's catch up time! Yea for all of you who get (or even want) to read a long post.

Here are a few pics of Christmas morning. I just happened to catch the picture of Coral right when she was stretching- of course she looks all laid back and ready for presents.

Daniel enjoyed his new tent, which he also used as his bedroom in our room while Mike and Eva were visiting.

And for the New Year, we spent it practicing Guitar Hero. WE ROCK! (I think I may start a band now with my mad skills.) Thanks to Mike and Eva for bringing Guitar Hero- many hours may have been wasted on other less important things . . .

We even ran into a "Free Hugs" mimic at Town Square. We all received a free hug. (This one is for you Amy!)

Daniel is now a Sunbeam! This has been a huge stepping stone in parenting; and I thought his first day of school was going to be the tear jerker- not Sunbeams! I admit, I did get teary-eyed a few times and even went to check on him his first Sunday. Despite his protest of not wanting to be a Sunbeam, he did very well and the only bad report I received was of him picking his nose! I asked him about it afterward and he informed me he had to get a big booger out. Well, of course you'd pick your nose if you had to get a big booger out! These little ones are just so logical and honest.

They had a pajama breakfast the day before and he had fun. Just this afternoon, he was insisting we build a train with our hands like they did that morning. We had them hold hands to get them from place to place and Brother Theurer made train noises as they walked along to make it fun for the kids. I am so thankful for the primary presidency and teachers for all they do to make the kids feel welcome. It's not an easy calling!

I just love it. Carlo and Daniel waxing Carlo's surfboard in preparation for California surfing! It was so cute. It will be fun when Daniel is old enough to learn.

Finally, our trip to California. We left late Wednesday night and arrived at our hotel around 2:00 am on Thursday morning. I put Coral in bed with me and she kicked me until she fell asleep around 3:45. Carlo was Daniel's kicking bag, but still got up at 6:00 am to go surfing. He came back to get us around 11:00 and we met up with his Aunt Roxanne, cousin Serena and her daugther, Julia and his other cousin Delana.

We walked out on the pier in Huntington Beach and saw a pod of dolphins hanging out. This is very rare to see so many, but it turns out a baby had died that morning and the family was trying to keep it afloat. The lifeguard boat finally came and fished it out of the water. A rare, but sad sight.

In the evening, we met up with Jason and Aubry to see their six month old daughter, BriAnna. It was nice to catch up with them and have some laughs. We had not seen them for awhile.

The next day we went to the beach (again) and a nice homeless man spoke with me forever and even gave me his email address, so I gave him a pass-a-long card. Carlo had to get out of the water to get the man to leave me alone. It was a bit awkward with my two young children. I'm thankful Carlo keeps a watchful eye on his family while he is out surfing.

We met up with some other dear friends, Cory and Greg, that evening and went to Mongolian BBQ. Yummy! Cory even made Carlo her famous chocolate cake for his birthday! And their 20 month old is so cute! It made me anxious to see Coral at that age. We also stopped at this place called Prehistoric Animals (I think) and saw some really huge snakes, lizards, iguanas, etc. I watched a snake eat a mouse. I know. Gross. But it was so interesting!

The next day was filled with Seaworld! We drove down with Mike and Eva St. Clair and arrived around 11:00 am. I was a little disappointed in the "Believe" Shamu show (thanks for the blog warning Brandi), but loved the dolphin and seal rescue shows.

We took Daniel on his first roller coaster. He is only three, but he's really tall! I kept asking him and he insisted he wanted to go. Journey to Atlantis has now been conquered by Daniel. He loved the first drop into the water (and even managed to look right at the camera for the picture- we bought it and I'll have to scan it sometime- his expression is classic). But after the twists and turns, with him ducking down into the car, he was done. When we slowed down, he immediately asked to get off, but never cried or panicked. He did ask to go on another ride in the park, so thankfully, he's not ruined. He did tell his Aunt Jenny that "It really freaked him out."

On the way home, we stopped at Pat and Oscar's. It is my new favorite restaurant. The next morning, we all slept in until 10:00 am! Contrary to our first nights stay, our kids were great every night after and our trip was a success. We ended it with our ritual afternoon luncheon with Carlo's Grandparents and Dad. Hopefully, we will make it back soon.

All in all, we wore our kids out.
