Mwahahaha

I feel so very excited to be typing my very first private post.  I have no limitations, I can write whatever I want and all because I know exactly who my readers are.  Be thankful you made the short list and get ready for a wild ride through Vanessa's mind as I let it all out.

But first,

I really dispise private blogs because I NEVER know when they have been updated.  So I took an idea from one of my best friends (thanks Eva) and created another blog where I will post a link to this blog.  If you subscribe to the feed, you'll get an update!  Just go do it and it will make sense.  I didn't get it at first either.  And if you have a private blog, I suggest doing this too.  I LOVE it!

Click here for the open blog.

Now on to the knitty gritty stuff.

Carlo and I are both lonely.  We talked about it last night.  Why you may wonder?  He's working and going to school all the timeWe were trying to figure out this morning when the last time was that he saw our kids.  I think it was Wednesday night right before they went to bed.  He even worked today.

He's lonely because he doesn't see us and I'm lonely because I don't see him.  Here's to someday and a swiff kick in my butt so I am thankful he has work.

And here is Coral's reaction when he left for work one day last week.  She woke up right as he was leaving and hadn't seen him in three days.

Get ready, this next one will break your heart.

And I grab my camera.  What a great mom I am!

And then she wouldn't let him put her down the Sunday after.  He happened to be home the whole day.

Truly Daddy's Little Girl.  "Butterfly Kisses after Bedtime Prayer . . ."  Good song.

The library is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I heard that saying the other day.  It brought me back to a time . . .  oh, I don't know when, but it made me want to use it.

But really, I love the library.  Who knew reading to a dog would do wonders for Daniel learning to read.

Paws and Read - It works!  And we have more appointments to look forward to.

Maybe the picture below explains why he has a hard time reading.  John Lennon anyone?

Good thing for breathing treatments and little boys who like to wear the "Disco" glasses you brought home from a party.  I needed a laugh.  BTW- he is a great reader!

What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger - In My Case, Literally

Many of you know I suffered from severe postpartum depression after my first child and almost took my own life.  It has been five years since that time and I know I have grown and learned many things from the experience.  For the whole story, click here.

After quite a few months of preparing and getting things all squared away, I am finally a Postpartum Support International Nevada Co-Coordinator.  I am so excited to be able to help others through my own experience!  And Postpartum International is an amazing nonprofit organization.  They have so much information and offer amazing support and resources for those suffering during and after pregnancy.  I have learned a lot and only wish I had known about PSI when I was experiencing postpartum depression.

As a volunteer co-coordinator, I am holding postpartum support meetings twice a month for mothers experiencing mood disorders during and after pregnancy.  I am so grateful for this opportunity and pray I can help others.

The following are the details of the support meetings.  Please pass this information on to any who may need it.

1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month, 7pm – 8pm
Starting in February

The OB/GYN Specialists
2050 Mariner Dr., Ste. 120
Las Vegas, NV 89128

Be Our Guest, Be Our Guest!

Friends, Family, Strangers,

I've been doing a lot of thinking and we are going to make our blog private.

I think private blogs are annoying and I do not like them at all, but there are some advantages I have become very fond of lately.

The main advantage being that I know exactly who my readers are and can post more openly about my life.

So, if you would like to continue viewing our blog, please email me or leave a comment.  I'll wait awhile to make sure I get everyone because I'm so popular.  lol  Who am I kidding!

Thank!

Now That I've Got a Breath of Fresh Air

I feel like I can finally blog about the holidays.  Even with everyone being sick, I feel like this was one of the best Christmas holidays we have ever had; I only wish I had felt better to enjoy it all.
***
I know some kids fall asleep where ever they close their eyes, but mine usually save sleep for their beds.  I knew Coral wasn't feeling well when I'd find her like this:

***
The best Christmas present we received was a special delivery from Santa- he brought Aunt Jen (my sister) for the kids!  I'm sure glad she was here!  And let Coral eat all of her chocolate before breakfast . . .  hey, it's Christmas, right?

***
Coral now has a complete apartment inside her bedroom.  I'm surprised she comes out to visit us at all.  She picked the Princess couch out with Christmas money she was given and when we brought it home to her room she asked, "Now where's the TV?"

So, I had to let her have a TV for one day at least.

Carlo turned the big 3-0 on the 9th.  Old man . . .  unfortunately, I'll always be older than him. :(

For his birthday present (a little early, so everyone could participate), he went to California surfing over New Year's weekend and hung out with his best friends from growing up.  One of my best friends, Eva, vacated her home and came to stay with me while the guys used her house for the four days and three nights.  Her husband is one of the friends from growing up, so it all worked out.

When I married my husband, I married into a close group of friends and I love it.  Thanks to everyone for giving up the time and money to make Carlo's 30th birthday so great.  He loved it.

The boys, Mike, Carlo and Scott (minus Jason).

The whole crew before they went their seperate ways.

I only wish we all lived by each other (and the ocean).

Happy New Year,
Nessa

Those Rare Shining Moments

Do you ever have those times as a parent where you think to yourself, "This is not one of my finest moments"?

Steroids + Coral = irritability and screaming

Coral is already quite willful, but now she has lost her reasoning along with using words to express her frustrations.  Anything will send her into a frenzy of screaming, tantrum throwing and hitting.

Yesterday, I ignored her and understood it was part of the side effects mentioned for the steroids along with not feeling well.  Today, I screamed back at her and held the door knob on her bedroom door so she couldn't come out.  Not my finest moment.

It's the lack of sleep.  It always gets the better of me.

Coral began coughing at 2:00 am and didn't stop until 3:00 am.  I rocked her upright, put vapor rub on her chest, gave her a drink, had Carlo give her a blessing and gave her a steam bath for 20 minutes.  Finally, she stopped coughing and went to sleep after some self soothing that involved humming and singing.

Silly girl.

The Constant Cough and The Pediatrician

The cough has been making its round in our home.

Just when I thought it was gone, it reared its ugly head in Daniel.  Now it was time for a trip to our pediatrician.  Apointment time: 4:35 pm.

Coral started coughing too, but our copay is quite high.  Only one kid for today.

Sometime after 6:00 pm, we were called back.

The pediatrician sat down with Daniel and Coral began coughing.

He asked why I didn't make an appointment for her too and I explained.

In answer to my tearful prayers earlier in the morning, he examined both of my kids and gave me a prescription.

At the end of our appointment, I inquired about a well check for Daniel.  Due to the late hour he couldn't do one right then, but told me he would cancel out my copay for when we do.

We waited for almost an hour and a half to see him, but it was worth the wait.

Now our kids are doped up on steroids and running around the house.

AND Coral slept through the night for the first time in over two weeks.

Heaven.

Feeling Blessed,
Nessa

Today's Happiness Comes From

1.  A daughter who wipes away my tears.

2.  The gloves I wear to wash dishes.  I don't dread the task and my nails are growing in thanks.

3.  My best friend, TiVo.  He is always there watching and recording, so when I need or get a moment, I can sit and be entertained.
