Blessings

I was driving down the road today and thought, "We have sure been blessed this year." Our family has had its fair share of trials, but we've been able to see the hand of the Lord in our lives.

Daniel was asking me why people don't know they shouldn't drink coffee. I replied because they probably aren't members of our church and don't know the Word of Wisdom. And then the missionary bug in me was screaming I should convert everyone around me. Meanwhile, Daniel is telling me coffee hurts people's teeth and stomachs and what does the word wisdom mean? I LOVE it when he asks me questions, but as he is getting older, his questions are getting harder.

I had to read him a book tonight (very simplified version) about where babies come from because he was asking me so many questions about it. Thanks to my mom for giving me the book she read to me when I was little! As I finished, I was afraid of the questions he might ask- like "What is sperm," but he just wanted to know why babies needed adults to take care of them and to tell me he didn't understand babies at all. Woo.. Thank goodness.

We had well checks for our kids today. Carlo and I are breeding giants. The doctor estimates that Daniel will be 6'4" and weigh 220 while Coral will be 5'8" and 120. They are both well over the average for height and weight. He kept commenting to me that people might get irritated with Daniel and me for how he acts thinking he is two years older than he is and I just shook my head in agreement. It has already happened so many times. Carlo and I even have to remind ourselves he is only four.

Even with all the insane moments, being a mother is the best job I could have ever picked. I'm grateful for my two babies and for such a wonderful husband. My BFF posted about dreaming she was married to someone else and then waking up and being so glad to find her husband next to her. Well, I have dreams like that and it all seems wrong. I toss and turn until finally Carlo's face will come into my dream and everything feels right and I go back to sleeping peacefully.

While I am on the grateful subject (belated Thanksgiving post), I am blessed with such great friends and family. So many times someone has called and perked up my day when I needed it. Or those moments when I may feel I am just not all that great, I'll get a some sort of compliment that helps me to realize that I really am an okay person- I am a Daughter of God. My BFF calls me all the time and she brightens my day with her funny antics. I've watched her get sealed in the temple and grow so much spiritually in the past six years. I'm proud to be her BFF. (I had to boast about you too). My friend here, Amber, always asks me to go out and do things. It's nice to know someone wants to hang out with you. She and her husband have become our good dearest friends. We all have a ton of fun together. And then there is one person that tells me how beautiful I am whenever I see her. All those things make me feel special and loved. We should all tell someone this next week how beautiful they are or let a friend know why you appreciate them. We all need to hear those things sometimes.

There have been countless people in my life that I may have only met briefly or have known for awhile, but I have learned something from each of them.

Happy Holidays!
